March 6, 2010 at 8:06 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentTexas wine writer and blogger Russ Kane, has two very interesting new posts at his website www.vintagetexas.com. The first post, “What I’m drinking tonight: Mandola Estate Winery 2008 Sangiovese” highlights the versatility of Texas grown Sangiovese. An excellent wine with tomato based pastas and pizzas, the Mandola Estate Winery Sangiovese provides the structure to pair with lighter grilled meats.
In his second post, Russ showcases Bingham Family Vineyards, a topic discussed many times here on our website. Growing Viognier, Vermentino, and Dolcetto, Bingham family vineyards has provided us here at Mandola Estate Winery with an excellent source of some new and up and coming grape varieties that have been made into excellent Texas wines.
Thanks again to Russ Kane and for anyone who hasn’t yet visited www.vintagetexas.com, it is the website to frequent if you want to be up on the world of Texas Wines!

Light in style, offering notes of green apple, citrus, and finishing remarkably clean, the 2008 Mandola Pinot Grigio has been the best to date. One of the most versatile wines available in today’s wine market are Rosé wines. Falling in between white and red wines in character, color, and body, Rosé wines combine the light and refreshing nature of non-oaked white wine with the young red fruit character of many red wines. These characteristics make most Rosé wines the perfect selection for various courses throughout the meal.
Although it is only February 21st, the temperature for the day has already exceeded 70 degrees and here at Mandola Estate Winery we all have the spring season on our minds. Nothing is more fitting for the weather than sitting outside with friends enjoying the warm sunshine while sharing a bottle of the Mandola Estate Winery Dry Rosé. At only $10 a bottle, this wine is not only delicious and perfect for the spring, but it is a tremendous value wine as well.
For information on ordering the Mandola Dry Rosé and having it sent directly to your home please contact us at 512.858.1470 option 2 or at info@mandolawines.com.
2008 Mandola Montepulciano & 2008 Viognier take Silver Medals at San Antonio Wine Festival

The Mandola Estate Winery is very pleased to announce that the 2008 Mandola Texas Viognier and 2008 Mandola Texas “Spino” Montepulciano have both received Silver Medals at this years San Antonio Wine Festival wine competition.
This is the first recognition for the 2008 Mandola Viognier. Produced using 100% Texas grown grapes sourced from Bingham Family Vineyards in the Texas High Plains AVA, this wine shows off the highly aromatic character that is often associated with the Viognier grape. Notes of white stone fruits such as white peach and apricot give a highly perfumed fruit character to the nose. Fermented and aged in only stainless steel tanks, the 2008 Mandola Viognier express bright notes of peach, pear and citrus gradually giving way to a crisp and clean finish. This wine is an excellent aperitif wine or paired with seared scallops and other seafood.
After receiving recognition in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo International Wine Competition as a Silver Medal winner and Texas Best of Class, the Mandola “Spino” Montepulciano is quickly becoming the most recognized and most sought after wine offered from the Mandola Estate Winery today. This medium bodied, dry red wine offers an exemplary balance of red fruits, earth, and acidity making it an ideal pairing for a wide array of dishes from tomato based pastas to lighter grilled chicken and game.
We are very pleased to announce the results from the San Antonio Wine Festival. You need not be a wine professional to give us your own opinion of these wines. Come and visit our tasting room and try both the Mandola Viognier and Montepulciano for yourself and tell us what you think!
A Mandola Wine created for Valentines Day!
February 10, 2010 at 7:55 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsWine is one of those beverages that has an application for almost any food imaginable. At the Mandola Estate Winery we model our winemaking techniques after the Italian way of life. We feel that all wine should be served with food and all food with wine. Therefore, our wines are crafted to be placed on the dinner table with friends, family, and of course - great food.
One wine in particular, the Mandola Estate Winery - Canto Felice or “Happy Song” in Italian, was created to be enjoyed in several different settings. This wine is excellent served slightly chilled with cheese, crackers and fresh fruit as you watch the sun set on a hot afternoon. As a wine for after the meal, the Mandola Canto Felice (pronounced Can-toe Fee-Lee-Che) serves as a perfect pairing with both milk and dark chocolates. This Valentines Day there will be several wineries that offer wines that happen to pair well with chocolate, but were not necessarily made for that pairing. Here at the Mandola Estate Winery, our Canto Felice does not just pair well with chocolate, it was created with chocolate in mind ! Please come and taste for yourself in our Tasting Room this weekend.
